Royal Caribbean Group is set to use a next-generation waste-to-energy system on its DNV-classed vessel, Icon of the Seas

Royal Caribbean Group is set to use a next-generation waste-to-energy system on its DNV-classed vessel, Icon of the Seas.

The LNG-powered ship will be one of two to have the industry-first Microwave-Assisted Pyrolysis (MAP) and Micro Auto Gasification (MAG) systems installed.

The innovative new technology will take waste generated onboard the vessels and convert it into synthesis gas that can be directly used as an energy source.
