Fuel for thought:
Biofuel – a new report from LR
Alternative maritime fuels have become increasingly important, as a response to stricter environmental regulations on emissions, driving technological advancements and improving the industry’s sustainability practices. To support ship owners and operators navigate the complexity of the future fuels landscape, we have launched the next report on biofuel in the Fuel for thought series® on alternative fuels for shipping.

Biofuel is emerging as a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels in the shipping industry, offering a potential pathway to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance towards a more sustainable future.

In our new report we will explore the current status of biofuel as a clean fuel, including any safety and training considerations, drivers for adoption, production and supply chain factors, plus technology readiness.

It examines the potential implications of widespread adoption of biofuel and its role in achieving a sustainable future.  The report also covers regulatory factors, lifecycle assessment, ship operator demand and techno-economic drivers. By painting a comprehensive picture, the report aims to assess biofuel as a clean fuel for the maritime industry.
