IMO Launches Global Carbon Fee

Big news: IMO Launches Global Carbon Fee

The IMO (International Maritime Organization) just approved a global carbon fee.

This is the first time any UN body has done this.

➡️ Core Changes:

• Ships pay $380/ton CO2 above limits
• Clean ships pay $100/ton CO2
• Top performers get carbon credits
• Small ships are exempt
• Biofuels now count as green fuel

➡️Emission Reduction Targets:
20-30% reduction by 2030
70-80% reduction by 2040
Net-zero target around 2050

➡️ What It Means:

Emission cuts start now.

Major drops coming after 2030.

Companies can pick their fuel type.

Trading carbon credits is allowed.

➡️ Market Effects:

Green tech leaders will win.

Carbon trading will create new revenue opportunities.

Alt-fuel market will grow fast.

Biofuel use will jump.
