While sailing north of Assumption Island, our managed vessel M/T “Alkiviadis” was unexpectedly joined by a huge flock of boobies (of the Sulidae family), staying with us both day and night. And let’s just say… they left us a parting gift.
𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: Rather than maintaining continuous flight across vast distances, seabirds frequently seek brief refuge on vessels, treating these ships as makeshift resting platforms on the open water. Our vessel serves as part of nature’s strategy for energy preservation in a constantly shifting marine landscape.
Special thanks to Captain Florian Minea for capturing and producing this one-of-a-kind video!
