INTERCARGO and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) have signed a two-year coalition partnership to accelerate decarbonisation efforts in the dry bulk segment, the world’s largest shipping sector by tonnage.
The partnership will promote the adoption of energy efficiency technologies (EETs), facilitate mutual knowledge exchange on low- and zero-carbon-fuelled vessels, and address the unique operational challenges of dry bulk shipping, particularly in tramp trades.
GCMD is conducting pilots to validate fuel savings and support financing models such as Pay-As-You-Save (PAYS), while INTERCARGO brings critical operational insight and consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
