Neptune Lines is a leading finished vehicle logistics provider, offering transportation and shipping solutions to manufacturers and shippers of cars and high & heavy cargoes. The company operates regular liner services in more than 40 ports in 27 countries across Europe, Mediterranean, Black Sea, North America and Far East. Its extensive range of 22 PCTC vessels enables optimal flexibility and can cater for a wide range of cargo, while achieving economies of scale across our network. Neptune’s growing network counts 3,000 port calls covering 1.3 million miles on an annual basis.

We are seeking a seasoned Maritime Lawyer to join our in-house legal team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in maritime law, coupled with a strong background in general corporate legal affairs. You will work closely with business leaders to provide strategic legal guidance, manage risks, and align legal strategies with our commercial objectives.

Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Manager key accountabilities include:

Maritime Law Expertise:

  • Provide expert legal work on all maritime-related issues, including domestic and offshore shipping companies structure and organization, establishment of offices of international and offshore shipping companies in Greece, ship sale and purchase, ship building contracts, ship registration (under the Greek or international flag) and flag transfers, ship mortgages (Greek, international and offshore registers).

Marine Insurance:

  • Handle reimbursement claims and disputes related to the company’s marine insurance policies, including hull and machinery insurance, P&I insurance, and cargo insurance.
  • Provide legal support on coverage issues and risk management strategies.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

  • Represent the company in maritime disputes deriving from bills of lading and CoAs, s&p agreements, shipbuilding contracts, charter parties, cargo damage claims, salvage, and collisions and offer resolution.
  • Develop and execute strategies for managing both maritime and general corporate litigation and disputes, minimizing legal risks and costs and coordinate with external counsel as necessary for complex or high-stakes legal matters.

Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate of all company contracts, ensuring that they meet legal requirements and support business objectives.
  • Develop standardized contract templates and processes to improve efficiency and reduce risks

General Counsel Duties:

  • Serve as an internal legal advisor, overseeing the company’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks across all aspects of the business.

Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with business units to understand their objectives and provide pragmatic legal advice that supports business goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to ensure legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with national and international maritime and corporate regulations, including environmental laws, safety standards, and employment regulations.
  • Develop and implement company-wide compliance programs and policies to manage legal risks effectively
  • Periodically summarize and map all regulatory requirements with relevant status for senior management review

Corporate Governance:

  • Advise the board of directors on corporate governance matters, ensuring that the company meets all legal obligations and follows best practices.
  • Prepare and review corporate documents, including board resolutions, meeting minutes, and compliance reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor (LL.B) or Master’s (LL.M) or equivalent law degree, with a specialization in maritime law preferred.
  • At least 5-8 years of legal experience, including substantial experience in maritime law and general corporate legal matters. Prior General Counsel in-house experience is highly desirable.
  • Licensed to practice law in Greece
  • Fluency in both Greek and English
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office

Skills:

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
  • Deep knowledge of maritime law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management abilities, with a focus on pragmatic and commercially viable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and manage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, HR, and senior management, to provide integrated legal support.
  • Ability to think critically and provide proactive legal solutions in complex and dynamic environments.

This is a key client-facing role, serving as the first point of contact for all visitors and callers, while also providing essential administrative support across the office.

The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of front office and daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage front desk operations, including handling incoming calls, welcoming visitors, and maintaining a professional reception area.
  • Coordinate all incoming and outgoing correspondence, including post, couriers, and company documentation.
  • Organise meeting room bookings and ensure spaces are clean, well-maintained, and appropriately set up.
  • Arrange employee travel, including transport, accommodation, and itinerary preparation as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support across the business as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, ideally within a professional or corporate office environment, or from the hospitality sector.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Greek and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Professional, approachable, and customer-focused manner.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Discreet, reliable, and adaptable in handling day-to-day responsibilities.
