The first 32-meter Super EcoCombi (SEC) hits the road in the Netherlands .
🔹The Netherlands is taking a major step towards the future of road transport: this December, the first Super EcoCombi (SEC) – 32 meters long and weighing up to 72 tons – will enter preliminary trials.
👉 This new combination can carry the same load as two conventional trucks, contributing to:
• tackling the driver shortage,
• reducing CO₂ emissions,
• improving transport efficiency.
The trial will be conducted under the supervision of TNO on the Rotterdam–Moerdijk–Venlo route, with strict safety requirements (360° cameras, articulation limits, blind-spot monitoring, etc.).
🔮 If successful, a pilot program with several SECs from different companies will follow in 2026 – paving the way for a new era in European road freight.
This development highlights Europe’s effort to balance efficiency, sustainability, and road safety.
