ABS: Floating Offshore Wind and the Vessels That Support It

In a new report, ABS examines how international #floatingwind expansion is expected to create a growing need for vessels to support towing, mooring installation, hook-up, cable work, inspection, maintenance and repair.

That demand will not be served by wind-focused assets alone. Many of the vessel types most critical to floating wind, especially large AHTSs and MPSVs, are also core assets in offshore oil and gas and #subsea operations. As a result, the market opportunity is as much about dual-use fleet strategy as it is about renewable energy growth, while also pointing to longer-term potential for purpose-built vessels as floating wind deployment scales and technical requirements become more specific.

For owners, operators and shipyards, the message is clear: the #offshore energy evolution reveals a long-term need for capable, flexible vessels that can work across both floating wind and production markets.
