Continuing our ESG journey with determination, we’re honored that Diana Shipping Inc. and Diana Shipping Services S.A. received significant recognitions at the 2024 ESG SHIPPING AWARDS International, Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony held on May 20, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Athens.
Gold Environment Leader Award. Consistent with our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, our Company received recognition for its decarbonization plan, featuring strategic initiatives like the ordering of two state of the art new-building methanol dual fuel Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels, investing in offshore wind farm support vessels, implementating carbon capture and storage system onboard and adopting novel nano coating applications on ships’ hulls to reduce GHG emissions and improve our fleet’s environmental efficiency. Our pioneering collaboration in the “Cargomorphose” project also received attention for focusing on recycling ships through optimized deconstruction into end products and repurposing ship components for the construction and shipbuilding industries.
Gold Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leader Award. Aligned with the second pillar of our ESG strategy “Protecting and Developing People,” and priority areas such as Safety at Sea, Labour issues, and Equality and Anti-discrimination our ship management company, Diana Shipping Services S.A., was honored for its advanced gender equity and inclusion program. The Diversity and Inclusion at Workplace program integrates an unbiased recruitment process, fosters cultural awareness and prevents harassment, empowered by our participation in the Diversity@Sea pilot initiative. The “Youth@Diana” program promotes youth employability through targeted initiatives. Additionally, our policy against violence, discrimination and harassment was adopted accompanied by rigorous training for all employees and a confidential reporting process.
