How RINA MARINE R&D and regulatory expertise fueled the ENGIMMONIA project

The recent win of the “Outstanding Innovation” and “Environmental Impact and Climate Change” WaterborneTP Awards highlights ENGIMMONIA Project‘s pioneering efforts in decarbonising maritime transport.

By thoroughly analyzing emissions from ammonia combustion and studying possible technologies that can be used to reduce them, as well as by integrating innovative low-carbon technologies on ships, ENGIMMONIA is leading the way towards a more sustainable future for the shipping industry.

We contributed to this achievement through the combination of the expertise of our Marine R&D team and our Plan Approval centers in Italy and Greece. Here’s how we contributed to the success of the project:
– provided the regulatory framework as a reference for project developments;
– constantly monitored IMO and EC progress on the safety of ships using low-flashpoint fuels, keeping our partners informed on relevant updates;
– followed the design and development of low-carbon technologies to ensure regulatory compliance and safe integration on board;
– supported the Port of Genova in studying a bunkering scenario at its site
