Few places in the world are as synonymous with shipping as Chios.
For generations, Chian seafarers, shipowners and maritime families have helped shape Greek and global shipping.
Since 2020, Project Connect has been proud to strengthen its bond with this remarkable island through the Adopt a Ship™ educational program, inspiring the next generation to discover the opportunities, values and careers of the maritime world. Around 32 classes and 16 Chian Shipping Companies have participated so far (in Hora, Vrondado, Kardamyla, Kallimasia, Oinousses).
We were especially delighted to see our Sail with the Adopt a Ship™ logo recognized among the winners at the 4th Stavros Livanos Summer Camp during the Ναυτικός Όμιλος Καρδαμύλων – NOK Regatta in July, demonstrating how maritime culture can be developed by inspiring children through sailing, teamwork, leadership and direct engagement with the sea.
A Special Maritime Tribute
On Monday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m., the Nautical Club of Kardamyla (NOK) will parade its sailboats at the Port of Kardamyla in tribute to all the children who have participated in the Adopt a Ship™ Program across Chios, Oinousses, and throughout Greece. This symbolic event honors the thousands of students who have connected with ships, captains, and crews through this unique maritime education initiative- Adopt a Ship™.
