Today we’re publishing V.Group‘s ESG Disclosure 2025.
DIMITRIS PATRIKIOS declares:
The reports reflects the Leading position of V.Group and its professional approach:
The shipping industry is in the middle of a transition it can’t opt out of. Tightening regulation (EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, the IMO’s 2023 GHG strategy), rising customer expectations on transparency and real geopolitical uncertainty are all reshaping what ‘responsible ship management’ means in practice.
Our view, set out by our CEO René Kofod-Olsen in this year’s report, is simple: the maritime sector’s future will be defined by performance, transparency and trust, and we’d rather help shape that future than wait for it to arrive.
That starts with safety. It’s the one part of our operation that isn’t up for debate, whatever else is changing around us.
From that foundation, a few themes stand out in this year’s report:
🌿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – our group-wide transition plan, aligned to the IMO’s 2023 GHG strategy, sets out the technical and operational changes needed to stay ahead of the curve, not just compliant with it.
✨ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 – our acquisition of Njord brings specialist fuel-efficiency and decarbonisation expertise directly into the V. portfolio.
💎 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 – modernising safety systems, strengthening procurement, and accelerating workforce development, because the transition only works if our seafarers and shore teams are equipped for it.
🔬 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆 – this year we completed our first EcoVadis ESG assessment, giving us an external benchmark to hold ourselves to.
We’ve published an ESG disclosure every year since 2019. This year’s continues that same approach: report the progress, be honest about the gaps, and be clear about where we’re headed next. This year’s format is different from previous disclosures: more data, less narrative. For the first time, we’ve chosen to prepare this report in line with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the framework developed under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and regarded as the most rigorous standard in sustainability reporting. We’ve adopted it voluntarily, and it shapes how we’ve set out our material impacts, risks and opportunities, and the progress made against them in 2025.
Managing a fleet covering more than 20 million nautical miles and a seafarer pool of 44,000 people across 30 countries, sustainability isn’t a side project for us; it’s core to running ships safely and efficiently at scale.
