Sembcorp Marine Ltd has delivered the final of three fully battery-operated roll-on/roll-off passenger (RoPax) ferries in DNV class for Norled AS, the Norwegian ferry operator.
The vessel, named Leikanger, will now join its sister vessels, Hella and Dragsvik, in having officially been handed over to Norled.
Leikanger, built in Singapore, runs on lithium-ion batteries charged by hydro-electric power and is also able to operate in hybrid mode by utilising combined batter-diesel power as an alternative.
