The Palau Ship Registry (PISR) was represented by Mrs Kelly Kresta, Attorney at Law and Maritime Registrar, in the second annual RISC conference, which took place in Valletta, Malta, on March 21 and 22, 2024.
The conference was organised by the U.S. Department of State to discuss the current sanctions environment, related challenges, and opportunities to enhance collaboration and sanctions risk management initiatives.
PISR is a member of the Registry Information Sharing Compact (RISC) MoU, which was founded by Panama, Marshall Islands, and Liberia and has established a process for flag states to notify each other if they deregister or deny registration to a merchant ship, on suspicion that it is in breach of sanctions.
The Memorandum of Understanding is a communications channel allowing flag registries to share information and its members now count more than 13 flags.
