TMS is hiring: Freight & Hire Collection Operator

TMS Tankers Ltd. is looking to hire a Freight & Hire Collection Operator. As a Freight & Hire Collection Operator, you will play a pivotal role in managing and analyzing voyage-related claims, ensuring they are handled in a timely and effective manner. You will be responsible for issuing claims, negotiating settlements, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth resolution. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our operations, chartering, and insurance teams to support the company’s strategies and protect our financial interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Claims Management: Handle all voyage-related claims including demurrage, deviations, damages, and other commercial or operational claims.
• Analysis: Review voyage data, charter-parties, and shipping documentation to assess claim validity. Maintain accurate and organized records of claims and settlements.
• Negotiations: Collaborate with counterparties, brokers, P&I Clubs, insurers, and legal teams to negotiate and resolve claims efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal teams (operations, chartering, insurance, and finance) to ensure seamless handling of claims and timely resolution of disputes.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify trends and patterns in charter-party clauses to help mitigate future risks and improve the financial profitability of the operated fleet.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on claims status, resolutions, and financial impact for senior management.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Maritime Law, Economics, or related fields
• Strong understanding of all tanker charter-party formats
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency in English, orally and in writing
• IT literate especially in Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with claims management systems (i.e. DANAOS) is a plus
