We are looking for a Cargo Quality and Port Services Coordinator to support our Cargo Quality team in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-standard vehicle handling our car carrier operations. The role involves overseeing cargo quality, port performance, and cost control while driving continuous improvement in service and operational excellence.
Reporting to Cargo Quality Senior Manager, key accountabilities include:
Cargo Handling & Quality
- Follow up and draft fleet circulars, operating manuals, and the Cargo Quality Manual.
- Oversee cargo surveys, analyze damage causes, and propose corrective actions.
- Monitor spot shipments, coordinate vehicle inspections, and ensure follow-up on audit feedback.
- Review KPIs, survey reports, and incident analyses; develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
Audits & Performance Monitoring
- Conduct cargo quality audits at ports, assessing handling, stowage, and lashing operations.
- Evaluate crew, stevedore, and agent performance, ensuring compliance with company and customer standards.
- Participate in customer quality audits and support the implementation of improvement actions.
- Maintain KPIs to monitor terminal and stevedore performance and alert relevant departments on deviations.
Claims & Cost Management
- Support the Legal Department in handling cargo claims through documentation and expert analysis.
- Verify and audit invoices from surveyors, terminals, and stevedores.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Planning, and Operations teams to prepare accurate cost projections for tenders.
- Analyze operational data and costs to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
- Develop cost-performance dashboards linking operational KPIs with financial results.
Required qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies or Port Operations is mandatory. A Master’s degree in a related field will be considered an asset.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cargo quality or operations within the shipping industry.
- Solid understanding of Ro-Ro/car carrier operations, cargo handling, and port terminal processes.
- Experience with cargo surveys, incident analysis, and quality audits.
- Familiarity with marine claims procedures and cost analysis methodologies.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite and knowledge of ERP systems or shipping management software an asset.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Business Central ERP System, Power BI, or Teams will be considered an asset.

- Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interaction with masters, surveyors, agents, stevedores, and customers.
