Welcome to the winter edition of Navigating the Americas – Bodily injury focus.
As we close out another year, we’re delighted to bring you a fresh edition packed with insights and practical guidance for shipowners and maritime professionals. This issue explores the importance of robust medical examinations for crew, the evolving legal landscape around arbitration in seamen’s contracts, strategies for defending traumatic brain injury claims, and effective ways to control US medical costs through case management and bill auditing. We also take a closer look at the complexities of pain and suffering damages in maritime injury cases, offering actionable strategies to help vessel interests navigate these challenging claims.
We’re excited to share some important news about our team in America. We warmly welcome two new joiners to our New Jersey office: Susan Lee, who returns to the Club as Senior Claims Executive, and Alice Solis, joining as Claims Processor. At the same time, we wish our wonderful colleague Dee O’Leary a long, happy, and healthy retirement after 18 years with the Club. Dee has been an incredible leader and colleague, and while we will miss her terribly, we couldn’t be happier for Dee and her husband Keith as they enjoy the rewards of their successful careers. We also say a fond farewell to Markus McMillin, who is leaving our fantastic San Francisco team to take up an exciting in-house position. Thank you both for all you have done for your colleagues and Members!
We hope you enjoy this edition and find the articles both informative and useful. As always, our team is here to support you
