PROJECT CONNECT became an Associate Member of INTERCARGO.

The NPO, PROJECT CONNECT, established on May 27, 2015, offers a rainbow of opportunities to young professionals in-the-making to help jump start their careers in the shipping industry they have selected. They facilitate the sharing of resources through professional assistance where needed and have placed over 70 candidates in shipping companies in the last years, via their CV platform, the first online cv database of shipping and business students and entry level graduates.

PROJECT CONNECT is an influencing force, contributing to the cultivation of Greece’s next generation workforce; many Founding Members of reputable shipping companies & the maritime cluster share their vision of offering work experience to “young professionals in-the-making”, in order to sustain the excellence in the Greek Shipping Industry!

In January 2019, PROJECT CONNECT successfully implemented maritime knowledge in Greek elementary schools for the first time, through the Cypriot educational program “Adopt a Ship”. By 2020, 33 classrooms from 16 public and private schools have been communicating with 26 seagoing vessels’ masters from 14 shipping companies. By 2025, 238 classes of 142 public and private elementary schools have been communicating with 170 seagoing vessels’ captains from 64 Greek shipping companies with over 1,000 letters exchanged where teachers performed lesson plans on geography, ports, English language skills, Shipping trade, history, significance in commerce and the economies, teamwork and empathy for key workers.

In total, up to now “Adopt a Ship” program has branded the Hellenic Shipping Industry to 20,000 pupils in Greece and in USA another 200 pupils. INTERCARGO supports the Project Connect “Adopt a Ship” program, connecting school pupils with the maritime sector.
