We are seeking a Planning Coordinator to join our Planning Team. In this role, you will support the planning and optimization of vessel schedules, ensuring operational efficiency and effective coordination between commercial and operational functions.
Reporting directly to the Planning Senior Manager, the key accountabilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare short –term vessel schedule daily, aiming to maximize operational efficiency and financial performance, considering related overtime costs
- Work in cooperation with vessel operators, ensuring that voyage instructions are implemented in the short-term vessel schedule
- Respond to the requests received by customers and assign cargo to vessels under his supervision
- Liaise between Commercial and Operations departments, ensuring each cargo parcel is assigned to the right vessel at the right time
- Respond to the production forecast of customers, offering a long-term transportation plan
- Monitor vessels’ utilization, aiming to maximize it by adjusting cargo share per customer or per destination
- Prepare and propose alternative routing scenarios to maximize the utilization of the vessels
- Monitor the cost structure of the vessel’s current plan vs. the budget
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Mathematics or Logistics, or a related field (Master’s degree/MSc or MBA is a plus)
- Background in finance, economics, or quantitative disciplines
- 2-5 years of relevant experience (experience in shipping/maritime is an advantage)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Greek and English (a third language is an asset)
- Advanced Excel proficiency and experience working with large datasets
Skills:
- Familiarity with AI tools, machine learning concepts, or data analytics platforms (such as Power BI, Python, or similar)
- An interest in and awareness of emerging technologies and digital transformation trends within the logistics and shipping industry
- Experience with or enthusiasm for applying quantitative methods and optimization techniques to operational planning
- Ability to work in a data-driven environment with a proactive approach to leveraging technology for process improvement and decision-making.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and work. under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.
