When fuel pathways remain uncertain, energy efficiency is the most practical step shipowners can take today. It delivers immediate, lasting benefits regardless of how the future fuel landscape evolves.
This is the rationale behind the seminar “Boosting Fuel Efficiency Through Electrification and Hybrid Propulsion” we at RINA have organised together with CSSC Ship Electric Technology and MarFlex, where I’ll be contributing as well.
The proposed concept is fuel‑agnostic, applicable across ship types and sizes, and designed to improve overall energy efficiency while enabling the future integration of batteries and alternative fuels. It focuses on practical, scalable solutions that support the transition toward hybrid propulsion without locking operators into a single technological pathway.
The event’s agenda will include perspectives on ultra‑efficient ship concepts, the role of batteries as a mature technology for GHG reduction, and electric cargo pumps as a driver of onboard efficiency. We will offer a holistic view of how electrification can already make a difference today.
Looking forward to an open discussion with owners, operators and technical stakeholders on how efficiency can act as a robust bridge toward the fuels of tomorrow.
