In preparing for an upcoming interview, one question in particular really made me pause. They asked about the changes I foresee in the global shipping industry in the next 5-10 years.

From where I stand, the next decade won’t just be about adopting new digital tools or achieving faster connectivity. It will be about fundamentally rethinking how we view vessels, data, and compliance. The lines between operations, regulation, and sustainability are blurring—and technology will be the thread that ties them together.
We’re moving into an era where decisions are driven by real-time data, not assumptions. Where compliance is embedded and proactive. Where emissions and energy performance become core to commercial strategy—not just reporting metrics.
