Delighted to share that WISTA International has been shortlisted for the 2026 Crew Welfare Diversity and Inclusion Award! Nominated for the IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey, this award recognises organizations that planned/delivered a program or promoted in any way the Diversity & Inclusion agenda.
The IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey is the first and only study to provide comprehensive insights into the proportion and distribution of women working in the maritime sector from both IMO Member States and the maritime industry. Data is a key driver of change, and crucially, the survey provides insight into the number of women serving at sea and highlights several challenges unique to the seafaring profession. The latest results revealed that women represent just one percent of active seafarers with findings reinforcing the call for continued efforts to increase female representation, improve workplace conditions, and challenge discriminatory hiring practices.
